Dr. Matthew James, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT is the Director of Rehabilitation and an Orthopaedic Physical Therapist at Princeton Sports and Family Medicine, P.C. in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. He is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, reflecting advanced training in orthopaedic manual physical therapy.
Dr. James earned both his Bachelor of Science in Health Science and his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Lebanon Valley College. He went on to complete an Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency at Temple University and later an Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship through Florida Gulf Coast University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Physical Therapy at Loma Linda University, where his work focuses on clinical scholarship, research, and advancing the profession.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. James is a Credentialed Clinical Instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association, an ImPACT-trained Concussion Specialist, and is certified in Dry Needling. His professional interests include orthopaedics, manual therapy, dry needling, sports rehabilitation, concussion management, and vestibular rehabilitation.
Dr. James has experience in a variety of practice settings including outpatient orthopaedics, vestibular rehabilitation, subacute rehabilitation, home care, and aquatic therapy. In his role as Director of Rehabilitation, he focuses on supporting his team, promoting evidence-based practice, and maintaining a high standard of patient care.
Outside of work, Dr. James enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He stays active through running, biking, paddleboarding, kayaking, skiing, cross-country skiing, and traveling.
