About Julia Shinkle, PT, DPT, LSVT BIG

Dr. Julia Shinkle, PT, DPT, LSVT BIG is an orthopedic physical therapist at Princeton Sports and Family Medicine in Lawrenceville, NJ.

Dr. Shinkle graduated with her BS in Biology in 2018 from the University of Dallas, where she played on the women’s lacrosse team. She went on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy at Temple University, graduating in 2021. As a PT student, Dr. Shinkle served as an executive board member for the North Broad Physical Therapy Center, a student-run pro bono physical therapy clinic in North Philadelphia. 

Dr. Shinkle is particularly interested in biomechanics and movement analysis, especially with runners and endurance athletes. As a distance runner herself, she is passionate about breaking the cycle of chronic injury and frustration that many athletes face. Dr. Shinkle works closely with many local high school and college running programs, and she has created a female runner leadership curriculum, leading symposiums throughout the year. Additionally, she is certified in LSVT BIG, a movement-based treatment approach for Parkinson's Disease and other neurologic disorders, and she has taken extensive continuing education coursework in pelvic floor rehabilitation. She has a special interest in the intersection between pelvic health and exercise.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Shinkle serves as Physical Therapy Clinic Director at Special Olympics New Jersey, directing rehab screenings and services to SONJ athletes at Summer Games and throughout the year. 

Outside of work, Dr. Shinkle enjoys spending time with her family, boyfriend, and friends. She has run 5 marathons and is passionate about running and training. She also loves to golf, travel and spend time at the beach!
